This website is a central contact for information and data about the topic of quality assurance and standardization of simulation methods in the building industry, specifically from the fields of building physics and technical building equipment/building energy management. Simulation methods have become an indispensable part of today’s planning practice – and are also absolutely necessary for the ambitious climate protection goals, see Motivation and Objectives of SimQuality.

We want to gather information on existing norms, standards, test series and certification procedures for simulation programs of different tasks.

An essential part of quality assurance is the independent testing of commercial and freely available simulation software. This is possible in the interactive area of the website.

Finally, the website provides a list of simulation programs which (in our opinion) currently represent the state of the art and science well, and an (admittedly) subjective evaluation of their usability in engineering offices, research and education.

This website has been developed within the research project SimQuality funded by the BMWi and is maintained since then by staff members of the Institute of Building Climatology of the TU Dresden and the Chair of Energy Efficient Building of the RWTH Aachen.
